The lovely Miss Sandra Blackmore will be spending the day at Coastal Dance Company on Sunday, September 8th and is offering classes at three levels.
12:00-1:00 Cecchetti Grade 2/3 Level Free Class
1:00-1:30 Pre-Pointe
1:45-3:00 Cecchetti Grade 5/6 Free Class
3:00-3:30 Pointe
3:45-5:15 Intermediate/Advanced 1 Free Class
5:15-5:45 Pointe
While the levels of the workshops are based on Cecchetti grade work, you do not have to be an exam student to take these classes. All free work will be taught!
The rates for the workshops are as follows:
$15 per student for the Grade 2/3 Workshop
$20 per student for the Grade 5/6 Workshop
$25 per student for the Int/Adv 1 Workshop
(All fees include the accompanying pointe class.)

Sandra holds her Fellowship with the Cecchetti Society of Canada in association with Cecchetti International Classical Ballet. She also holds the Cecchetti Advanced 2 exam along with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing’s certificate of Applied Anatomy and Physiology.
Sandra studied in Toronto for several years where she attended the Lois Smith School of Dance/ George Brown College, Joan Kohal Studio of Ballet as well as summer seminars at the National Ballet School and York University. Sandra returned to the province where she established her own studio where she taught for over twenty years. Also in demand as a guest teacher and private coach, she has entered dance teachers for their qualifying examinations as well as Primary through to Advanced 2 level examinations.
As a performer and choreographer, Sandra has worked with Newfoundland Dance Theatre Young Dancers Company, Neighbourhood Dance Works, Kittiwake Dance Theatre, Sound Symposium, Festival of New Dance and the Labrador Creative Arts Festival.
Sandra has received grants for both creation and professional development from the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council. Other agencies, including the City of St. John’s and the Margaret Saul Scholarship, have assisted Sandra’s continued professional development that has taken her to Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Victoria, Vancouver, Canada and New York City, U.S.A.
Appointed to the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council in 1998, Sandra served as both dance representative and Chairperson. She was the Cecchetti Society of Canada’s first Newfoundland representative and sat as a nationally elected board member to the National Council from 1996 – 2001. Since its formation, Sandra has been a member of the Dance Teachers Association of Newfoundland.
Inspiring dancers for over 25 years Sandra teaches classical ballet firmly rooted in the tradition of Enrico Cecchetti while incorporating current techniques and new developments from the international community. Drawing from her studies in contemporary dance, anatomy, history along with a variety of classical dance styles Sandra teaches with a broad and dynamic perspective. A performer herself for many years, she encourages a rhythmic, energetic use of space and with a strong sense of performance.
Currently Sandra teaches at MAX Arts Athletics Wellness, Catherine’s Dance Studio in Bay Roberts as well as guest classes and workshops. Sandra has just returned from the week long Cecchetti Conference at the National Ballet School of Canada and has also attended the Cecchetti Day at NBS this past February.
